Our drones are operated with LiPo (our L10, L10 PRO and M12 drones) and NMC batteries (our L30 and M40 drones). We have chosen these batteries to reap the benefits of the high energy-to-weight ratio and the high discharge rate characteristic of this kind of batteries. We have also built our drone systems in a way which allows you to reduce the most significant cost of the drone’s operation: the battery charge and amortization. But your care and caution is also necessary to ensure the long lifespan of the batteries.
Keep in mind that the high capacity LiPo batteries are not only more powerful, but also require more care and caution, than your cell phone’s battery. To get the most out of your batteries, use them in a range of 30-80% charge rate. Never let them be drained under 30%. This would not only shorten the lifetime of your batteries, but also creates a risk during flight.
Although it might sound tempting, never use the fast-charging mode, because it speeds up the degradation of the batteries. Use balanced charging instead, as often as possible. This ensures that the cells of your battery have the same voltage. (The imbalance (voltage difference) between the cells of a battery increases degradation.
If you don’t use your batteries for an extended time, store them in storage mode, inspect them monthly, and every three months put them on the charger. Our L30 drones come with smart batteries with a built-in voltage management system. These batteries automatically discharge themself to the storage optimum.
